Strengthening Road Safety for the 2026 MPTC Tour of Luzon: Safety measures designed to protect both cyclist and communities they pass through

Manila, Philippines — The 2026 MPTC Tour of Luzon organizers have intensified preparations for the country’s premier cycling event, placing road safety and operational readiness at the forefront.
With thousands of cyclists, staff, and spectators expected to participate, organizers said extensive measures are being implemented to ensure a smooth and safe race across all 14 stages of the tour.

The MPTC Tour of Luzon is a premier international cycling event, and “the heightened focus on safety underscores our commitment to delivering a world-class and incident-free competition” said Arrey Perez, CEO and Chief Organizer of the MPTC Tour of Luzon. Central to these efforts was a comprehensive ocular inspection of the entire race route. Organizing teams physically traversed each stage to assess road conditions and identify potential hazards, enabling them to closely evaluate the terrain that riders will encounter during the competition.

The organizers worked closely with local governments and the Department of Public Works and Highways regional offices to address road hazards and enhance traffic management. The collaboration
resulted in improved road conditions, which is critical in ensuring safety standards ahead of the event.

Organizers emphasized that these measures are intended to protect not only the competing cyclists but also race officials, media personnel, support teams, and the large number of spectators expected to gather along the routes. They expressed their appreciation to the government and partner communities for their support.

The MPTC Tour of Luzon 2026 is expected to match the intensity of the summer heat, with 14 stages spanning 13 provinces in 5 regions in Luzon. The tour will have its Grand Depart on April 29 in Calatagan and will end in Baguio City on May 13, 2026.
