A HERITAGE IN MOTION: MPTC Tour of Luzon 2026 Officially Kicks Off 

The golden hues of sunset at CaSoBe Resort provided a stunning backdrop for the opening of the MPTC Tour of Luzon 2026: A Heritage in Motion,  marking the formal presentation of team compositions to members of the media, partners, fans, and spectators

This year’s roster features 7 local and 6 international teams.  The Philippines’ pride include Go For Gold, 7 Eleven Cliqq Roadbike Philippines, D’reyna Orion Cement Pro Cycling Team, Excellent Noodles Cycling Team, MPT Drivehub Cycling Team, Pangasinan Cycling Team, and Standard Insurance Philippines. 

They are joined by Seoul Cycling and Gapyeong Cycling from South Korea, LCW UAECycle from the United Arab Emirates, National Team Malaysia, Ponti Wijaya Racing Team (Indonesia), and CCN Factory Racing (Hong Kong). The expanded international presence is expected to elevate the level of competition and provide Filipino riders with greater exposure on the global stage.

“We are very excited to welcome and see an expanded international field this year, which I think is best for Filipino riders. By bringing global competition to our shores, we  put the Filipino teams in the world’s spotlight and fire them up to bring more to their game.  Magandang Laban ang aasahan ng lahat,” said MPTC Tour of Luzon CEO and Chief Organizer Arrey A. Perez.

Philippine Sports Commission Chairman John Patrick C. Gregorio graced the event, emphasizing the importance of promoting grassroots sports and tourism. “For me, the Tour of Luzon is the pillar of sports tourism,” Chairman Gregorio said.

Messages of support were also delivered by Calatagan Mayor Rico B. Puno, Cardinal Santos Medical Center President & CEO Raul Pagdanganan, PAGCOR Chairman Francisco J. Rivera, and Philippine Olympic Committee President Abraham Tolentino was represented by Oversight Head of PhilCycling and Race Director Jun Lomibao, all highlighting the importance of the Tour in promoting sports development and national pride. 

Perpetual trophy

The highlight of the program was the presentation of teams, followed by the symbolic handover of the Perpetual Trophy by last year’s champion. The moment signified continuity and the enduring legacy of the Tour.

Stage 1 and the Grand Depart will take place tomorrow, April 29, beginning at CaSoBe Resort in Calatagan and concluding at the iconic Praying Hands in Tagaytay. The MPTC Tour of Luzon 2026: A Heritage in Motion, will cover  14 stages across 13 provinces in Luzon and is expected to draw cyclists and fans alike.
