Filipino pride Ryan Tugawin of Excellent Noodles Cycling Team delivered a breakthrough ride in Stage 8 of the MPTC Tour of Luzon 2026, powering to victory with an impressive winning time of 3 hours, 16 minutes, and 58 seconds.

Tugawin seized the moment in the closing kilometers, outlasting the competition and giving Excellent Noodles Cycling Team a memorable stage triumph as the battle for the overall title intensified heading into the decisive mountain stages.

Ariff Danial Noor Roseidi of National Team Malaysia finished second after a strong and consistent ride, while Marvin Mandac of Go for Gold Philippines secured third place to complete an internationally mixed podium.

Despite Tugawin’s stage victory, Russian Yellow Jersey holder Nikita Shulchenko of LCW UAE Cycle Team maintained firm control of the Individual General Classification. Backed by teammate and Best Young Rider leader Yousef Ibrahiem Alrefai, LCW continued to dictate the overall standings as the race approaches the crucial climbs of Northern Luzon.

The fight for the mountains classification also remained fierce, with Joo Dae Yeong of Gapyeong Cycling Team continuing to dominate the King of the Mountain competition. Meanwhile, Ivan Anisimov of LCW UAE Cycle Team retained command of the Sprint Points Classification with consistent finishes across intermediate sprint sections.

Mark Jiro Paulo of CCN earned the stage’s Most Combative Rider honors after launching multiple attacks and animating the race from the early breakaway to the final stretch.

In the Team General Classification, Go for Gold Philippines holds firm at the top of the rankings, with other teams openly eyeing the spot as well.

With the legendary mountain stages looming, including the feared ascents toward Bessang Pass and Baguio, the MPTC Tour of Luzon 2026 now enters its most decisive chapter as climbers and contenders prepare for an all-out battle for the crown.
